Congratulations to our member of the month, Lois McFadden!!!
This one is long overdue but we wanted to give credit where it is due. Lois was one of, if not the first member at CrossFit Strength and Justice and has been with us ever since. This past summer marked her 5 year CrossFit anniversary and she hasn’t slowed down since. She also had some big life events this past summer as she happily retired from her job, celebrated her 60th birthday, and welcomed her second granddaughter into the world! Quite a busy summer and she still made time each week to get into Vae Victis regularly and even frequented other boxes while away.
Lois would probably laugh at us for saying this, but in our eyes she is a model member here at CrossFit Vae Victis, and one I think we can all look up to. She follows the program without question, shows up consistently and just does what is called for on any given day. Her consistency is key and she makes her health a priority in her life. Sure some of us are here for the competition but that comes and goes and we’re left with one important thing…our health, our happiness and the ability to do what we love when we’re outside of the gym. Lois is a great example of this and I think we can all take a page out of her book.
We’d like to thank Lois for her constant dedication to this program, her support and positive influence to all those around her, and for making CrossFit Vae Victis a better place. We’re excited to be a part of her journey and look forward to seeing her continued success in years to come.
Below are a few fun facts about Lois.
What are your favorite movements?
Kettle bells workouts….or picking up my keys on the way out after a class!!
What is your least favorite movement?
Anything with the word “Snatch” or “Overhead” in the name. Really, where will I use those movements in my life??
How did you get into CrossFit and how long have you been training?
The Owners of CrossFit Strength & Justice are friends, and five years ago, they convinced me to just “try” it.
What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?
I love that everyone works out at the same time, and I can just scale it as necessary. At 60, I’m still able to get a great workout, but gladly accept my place at the bottom of the Whiteboard.
What do you like most about CrossFit Vae Victis?
I cherish the energy of the members and that fact that no one cares that I just do my own thing. I also am in awe, especially of the young women members who are so impressive in their strength, commitment and personal dedication. I also secretly admire and envy Pat’s compulsive neatness of the gym!
Favorite cheat food?
Pizza and frozen brownies…Oh and of course a great glass of Chardonnay!
Tell us one interesting fact about you others may not know.
My sister and I once belonged to Elaine Powers gym and actually thought that we were getting exercise.
Name one goal or personal record you want to achieve in the next year?
Just continuing to show up for another year. For me, being healthy and happy are more important than setting any PR.
As you can see from Lois’s interview, you can tell why everyone at the box loves her the way that we do. She has a phenomenal attitude and truly embodies all the most important things about using CrossFit to maintain a healthy and happy life.
Once again, congratulations go out to Lois for impressing all of us with her amazing energy and infectious personality. That is what it means to be the CrossFit Vae Victis Member of the Month. Check back next month for the next Member of the Month. We will once again be highlighting one of our great members that is killing it in the box.
